On the morning of June 27, Party members and prospective members visited the former site of the 129th Division Headquarters. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Shexian served as the heartland of the Border Region base area and was a strategic stronghold for the warfare in North China. Under the leadership of Division Commanders Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping, the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army accepted a critical mission, crossed the Yellow River eastward, and advanced into the Taihang Mountains, launching famous battles such as Changshengkou, Shentouling, and Xiangtangpu during the War of Resistance Against Japan.

All Party members viewed the personal effects of the revolutionary martyrs and listened attentively to the account of the glorious struggle of the 129th Division under the leadership of the “Liu-Deng Army”, as they fought valiantly in the Taihang Mountains and endured hardships in the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Base Area. By reviewing their Party admission oaths, they once again reaffirmed their sense of mission and responsibility as Communist Party members.

Reviewing the Party Admission Oath
On the afternoon of June 27, Party members and prospective members visited Huangyadong Arsenal to pay tribute to the martyrs. Huangyadong is located deep in the mountains northwest of Xiachiyu Village, Dongyadi Town, 45 kilometers north of Licheng County, Shanxi Province, featuring crisscrossing ravines and sheer cliffs. It is both a scenic natural area and a sacred site of the revolutionary war that attracts visitors from home and abroad. In July 1939, acting on orders from Commander-in-Chief Zhu De and Deputy Chief of Staff Zuo Quan, the Military Industry Department of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters relocated its repair and construction workshop from Hanzhuang Village in Yushe County to Huangyadong, expanding it into the largest arsenal operated by our forces behind enemy lines in North China at that time.

Paying Tribute to Martyrs at Huangyadong
Following in the heroic footsteps of our martyrs, we passed through the chasm known as “A Thread of Sky”, once a battleground rife with artillery fire, and walked past the bunkers where martyrs once held off the enemy. By listening to the battle stories of our predecessors, we learned that Huangyadong was the earliest and largest munitions factory established by the Eighth Route Army in the enemy-occupied rear areas during the War of Resistance Against Japan, earning it the title of “Cradle of the People’s Military Industry.” The Party members took these lessons to heart. While marveling at the steep peaks and rugged mountain trails, they were filled with admiration for the revolutionary spirit of the Eighth Route Army soldiers who fought valiantly in the Battle of Huangyadong.

Everyone expressed their determination to remember history, uphold the spirit of the War of Resistance, dedicate themselves to their respective posts, stay true to their original aspirations, and press forward. They will strive to continuously exemplify the vanguard role of Party members, face hardships with courage and throw themselves into their work with boundless energy and high morale, putting the “Party History Learning and Education” campaign into practice through concrete actions.
